Cover Reveal, Finale, and Mindblowing Sequel: Allegiant and Never Fade

Have you read one of my most favorite dystopian series Divergent or experienced mind fuckery in The Darkest Minds?

Allegiant (Divergent #3)

Today’s show with Ryan Seacrest shared in his interview last week that Veronica Roth finally revealed the cover for her Divergent finale Allegiant:

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

I was actually impressed by the fan-made covers compiled in Pinterest before the official cover was revealed but this final one still had its fair share to stand out. Without putting in an exact sign of Abnegation or Dauntless or combination of both, Roth decided to stick with her theme to define a breathtaking farewell for Tris and Tobias (Four) with the tag line “Once Choice Will Define You”.

Allegiant will be available in the market on October 22nd and Divergent movie adaptation shows March next year starring Shailene Woodley as Tris and Theo James as Four. Here’s the latest fan-made trailer for you:

Never Fade (The Darkest Minds #2)

Second off is The Darkest Minds sequel Never Fade. If you’re into psychological, supernatural world with a heroine just like Ruby then you would be one of those swooning to get their hands on this when you loved her first time around.

From The Darkest Minds #1: When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.

The second book will show us how Ruby goes through her challenges even more as she’s claimed her supernatural powers within her. Stronger and more mature, this kick-ass monster and heroine’s survival must be exciting.

The hot new cover resembles a star as compared with the Psi symbol from the previous book. Pretty isn’t it? Great job Alexandra Bracken and the team! Mark your calendars and grab it once it’s available in your library or stores worldwide! 🙂

Never Fade will hit the stores on October 29th. 🙂 Read the exclusive excerpt here at EW.

Short reaction: I just died of swooning over Four after reading his short points of view!
Rating: 5 out of 5

Synopsis

#1 New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth retells a pivotal Divergent scene (chapter 13) from Tobias’s point of view. This thirteen-page scene reveals unknown facts and fascinating details about Four’s character, his past, his own initiation, and his thoughts about new Dauntless initiate Tris Prior.

My Thoughts

Four – OMG Four I love you! 🙂 I agree it’s too short that I’m so eager to learn more from your selfless, heartwarming POV’s!

Not to mention that the knife-throwing initiation was one of my favorite scenes as well.

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth
Genres: Young Adult, Dystopia
Short reaction: Beautiful story of family and survival and love!
Rating: 5 out of 5

Synopsis

In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue–Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is–she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are–and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

My Review

Also seen on Goodreads.

I was quickly inlove with Legend and for that reason, I tried to find another beautiful story in a dystopian setting and glad I never looked back when I read Divergent. Here we meet Tris, another young kick ass heroine and Four (Tobias), oh God, I love this guy and together they’re inseparable. Why? Here are my thoughts:

16-year-old Beatrice Prior (Tris) faces the biggest decision in her life along with the other 16yo’s as they are being tested and are taken into the Choosing Ceremony to either choose and stay with the faction they are born with or be a “transfer” as they choose a different faction their interests are leading them. After choosing, they will have to face and pass their factions’ initiations to be able to entitle themselves as full-pledged members of the society and serve the nation.

A faction is their so-called society the new Chicago is being divided into namely Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). These factions are responsible for training initiates and shaping them to be the nation’s new leaders who continue to balance this futuristic world.

Beatrice Prior proved to be the bravest when it comes to making the hardest decisions! You’ll definitely agree with me when I say she’s one small but terrible heroine. Despite being underestimated from the consequences of her choice and being an Abnegation, she went from timid to one hell of a fighter. Of course, fears will always be there but this protagonist barely feel it the more she manages to control it.

On the other hand, I also liked how antagonists and supporting characters surrounded Tris. Christina, Will and Uriah made a good company around her while Peter, Eric and Jeanine were just intelligently cruel (not as cruel as Voldemort) but they did a good job on making me flinch a bit.

Beginning of Tris and Tobias’ Journeys

Then here comes Tobias. Like Tris, you will discover mysteries behind his natural selflessness and leadership and somehow his cruelty in the training as one of the mentors. Him noticing Tris is expected but you will still enjoy them together. 🙂

Lastly, cliffhangers on what happened with Tris’ friends are to watch out for in the next installment. Divergent ended with a war between factions, I’m expecting a lot more action in Insurgent.
